Land is being cleared on a heavily wooded lot adjacent to the Mariners Grove apartments on East President Street (right next to the road to Old Fort Jackson). Does anybody recall what this is for?

Was supposed to have been a Wal-Mart Supercenter, to replace the regular Wal-Mart on Whitmarsh. I think those plans were shelved long ago, however.

I keep hearing talk that more breakfast options may be built in the area, namely, Bojangles and possibly a Dunkin Donuts (yuk). Great place to catch all the morning commuters coming off the Islands.

Are you referring to the lowlands near the intersection of President and the old Kerr-McGee Road? (By the bumpy area they repaved over old railroad tracks)

I'm very excited about this, it will be interesting to see what the Foram proposal looks like.

Quote:
Foram Development LLC submitted the highest-rated proposal for the .38 acre site in the Thomas Square neighborhood.

According to the city council agenda, Foram will pay the city $687,000 for the site. The company has plans to build a multi-story apartment building with a parking garage.

The council voted in March to declare the land surplus and opened it up for proposals.

Foram scored 96 points out of 100. Criteria include quality of proposer, innovation, and economic benefit to the community.

The next closest bid was Ele & the Chef LLC. They scored 90 points despite offering $750,000 for the site.

Council will vote to sell the property to Foram at it's 2 p.m. meeting at City Hall.

No this is right at the intersection of E President and Woodcock Street next to the Red Cross headquarters, immediately east of Mariners Grove

I believe it was supposed to be a Costco but those plans were abandoned long ago

Costco was supposed to be built further up President, across from where Gen. McIntosh (used) to intersect.

That would’ve been a horrible location for a Costco
