Bill has been filed thanks in part to this Saul Goodman sleazy slimeball politician Ron Stephens.

Casinos coming to Savannah is this little guy Ron Stephens' (our 'representative) dream... http://www.city-
Chatham state Rep. introduces gambling legislation | SavannahNow
data.com/forum/atlanta/2709499-new-details-confirmed-ajc-casino-legislation-10.html

I believe increased poverty and crime that come with casinos would outweigh benefit.

If you have thoughts give our little guy-from-a-late-night pay-day loan-ad, Representative Ron Stephens your view--

Also big thank you to our Rep. Jesse Petrea. He opposed it because he is either a) not bought out by a casino owner or b) a good citizen that understands costs will outweigh benefit. I like how Petrea represents us. He has stood up to the fat cats at the capital before. I've even met him. Thank you Rep. Jesse Petrea.

From reading a couple of articles it looks like this may have the votes to get through. The bill states two sites. One in Atlanta and another somewhere else which if you have an idea means Savannah.

Wonder how long before we have them up and running? Have to think it will be very quickly in order.

Really happy to see this should mean another boost for our tourism trade.

And, the HOPE Scholarship already gets funded by the State Lottery. It is not like the casino would even actually add any money to the pot. The people playing lotto would likely be the people that would go to the casino. so Stephens bill is a scam.
In conclusion, let me ask everyone - Do you like Sav on St Pat's day? I do, in a special way shall we say heh. But would you like to see the city like it every day of the year.. Another boost for the tourist trade, ** that. Bellhead you don't think more residential and real jobs downtown wouldn't be a better use of our city's space? But alas you are right. It will probably "get through". Because, well, a few people will get money or timeshares in the Bahamas or something. And scrw you and screw everyone who lives and works here. But remember this come voting: Rep Petrea stood up for us. Stephens sold us out and is a traitor.

The casinos will add BILLIONS of dollars to the HOPE pot. The lottery (which can no longer adequately fund the popular program) is primarily played by everyday Georgia residents. The casinos will be TOURIST resorts that attract most customers, and most income, from outside the state.

The bill, as propsoed and agreed to be the casino companies, would direct 20 percent of gaming revenues toward HOPE. That's a huge load of money, far more than the industry average, and would be a big boon to the education fund.

I'm the oddball. This is good for me because I hate driving to Brunswick for the boat. Now I can stay in town. The one thing my dad and I have a passion for and can bond together with is casino fun.

The news stories say the casino companies don't want to be downtown but rather out on the I-95 corridor, and I'm OK with that. I could see a big casino resort at the I-95 / 16 intersection.

The mega site would be perfect as long as the exit at Pine Barren and 95 is created and a casino exit on 16 is added. It could hold 1 or 2 casinos with associated business and they would not disturb Mitsubishi.

I think NB you would agree that those "customers" are...how do I say this smoothly...on the lower end of the type of customers (on average of course) that enhances a city's image. Take a good look at Atlantic City NJ and see how that went. Take a look at the Casino built in Queens NY and see the immense amount of dollars...and the customers it attracts.

There is always a time to say the heck with the "Billions of dollars" it is "supposed" to bring and focus on the negatives which it ALWAYS brings. IMHO.

Right but...the majority isn't always right. And BEFORE they become a majority they must form an opinion from data that is either forced fed to them, their own observations, personal investigation and research, or other means in order to make that decision. I know, I know, "the rule of law, bla, bla, bla, but I stand by my comment.
