We're coming back down in a couple weeks and looking to save a few bucks in the food/drinks department... We'll be spending a day downtown and want to try some new places that someone who doesn't live in Savannah might not even give a second thought to/have any way of knowing about. You can only learn so much from Trip Advisor reviews!

Looking for recommendations for local "holes in the wall" type places downtown for cheap(er) eats and cheap(er) beer/drinks! Places like The Warehouse on River ST and The Rail Pub on Congress ST.

We've had our fill of Wet Willies and Spanky's when strolling around downtown (saving those places for the beach )

Thanks!

If you're looking for bars, try Abe's on Lincoln, Chuck's on the River, McDonough's, The Wormhole, Jen's on Bull. For food and drink, my go-to places downtown are The Ordinary on Broughton (across from H&M) and The Cotton Exchange Tavern
on River Street. For a different take on Savannah, don't miss any one of the Ele Tran restaurants downtown (Flying Monk, Chive, Fire or The Vault). If you wanna go where the locals go, head to The Crystal Beer Parlor on Jefferson Street (near Jones). It's the oldest restaurant in Savannah and an amazing place.

LOL you are such a barfly. You remind me of Mike Royko.

Rouge Water on MLK is another "hole in the wall" popular with the grunge crowd. For the opposite ambience, but a true "local" experience, check out the bar at 1790 Inn on Lincoln at President Street. And it goes without saying, Pinkie Masters on Drayton is the most famous "hole in the wall" bar in all of Savannah.

Long story ... but not exactly. It reopened at its original location on Drayton Street over St Pats week.

Gotcha! We'll add it to the list.

Been reading about Zunzi's - worth the hype and the wait to get a sandwich?
