Pest control service Terminix recently released its 2017 list of the top 15 roof rat-infested cities in America, based on service data from more than 300 branches across the country. The rankings represent metropolitan areas with the highest number of actual services for roof rats so far this year. Savannah was number 1, followed by Memphis and then Miami.
Roof rats, also called ship rats and black rats, have strong climbing skills and a hairless, scaly tail that can grow up to a foot long. Like tourists, they prefer mild climates of the southern and coastal regions of the country. Other rodents, such as the Norway rat, are also found here and throughout the nation, but were not the focus of the list.
“The roof rat is thought to be of Southeast Asian origin, but is now found throughout the world, especially in tropical regions,” reports PestWorld.org.

I thought you were using a metaphor for GA. politicians. ROFL.

This is not the only thing that kept us away. The homeless situation is depressing, and the smell from polluted Savannah river is well, just plan awful. It fact the pollution of the entire area is really unbearable esp. since it doesn't seem like the people not only don't care, but are ok with it.

WE were looking for homes west of the city and the realtor never mentioned that pipeline, ( it got stopped thank heavens), or the pollution from that papermill that dumps it's poison right into the river untreated! We kept finding these beautiful homes, for such low prices I started looking for a reason why. 1. the smell was bad enough but the state was actively trying to de- regulate even more so they could get away with a oil pipeline right through the middle of this small town. We ended up just over the boarder in Bluffton. Not much better but at least it didn't stink.
