Today's Times (just appeared on the online homepage this evening) features the most generous and glowing page-one article on my hometown to date. There've been terrific articles since the late 1970s, but this one's remarkable. You'll note too that even the most recent Savannah-Charleston thread on City-Data -- the proverbial "Which city shall I visit first?" -- has lots of Savannah partisans (all of them non-Savannahians). Moral: Savannah has arrived.

No doubt.
Is it me, or is the NYT totally infatuated with Savannah? Seems they publish an article about y'all about every other week...

Savannah has been a hugely popular leisure destination from NYC ever since "Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil." With 10 daily nonstop flights between here and there (serving all 3 NYC airports) it stands to reason there's a lot of back and forth interest.

According to this link, the last Savannah "travel" story was in 2015:

Savannah Travel Coverage - The New York Times

But a quick search of NYT archives reveals plenty more Savannah stories ... from dining to real estate to arts to politics to even the occasional high society report about Manhattanites who come down here to get married!

It's not just you. As Newsboy shows, Savannah is known among New Yorkers, a number of whom have visited. Three decades ago, they might ask you where Savannah was (they only knew it wasn't in Florida). No longer. The Times has featured Savannah articles since 1978, well before Midnight in the Garden came out.
