I've got 3 days in Savannah 2/23-2/25 on my way to Atlanta. What are some "must dos"? I'm also checking it out as a possible retirement spot but this is a brief stop. I'm going solo so I can do whatever I want.

Staying at the Hampton inn- Historic district

We don’t know what your interests are, so my suggestion is that you just walk to as many squares as you can, read the historical info, and enjoy the things you see along the way.
You could take a trolley tour for an overview of the city.
Dine in as many different restaurants as you can.
There are historic homes to tour. There are museums.
Don’t miss Forsyth Park.
Watch the container ships go down the river.
Shopping...we’ve got that.
One thing I’ve been meaning to do is make a day of the new Prohibition Museum at City Market, Ghost Coast Distillery and Service Brewery that’s on the same street.
Every Thursday, there’s a DO section in the Savannah paper that tells what’s happening over the weekend.

Enjoy your visit.

There's no shortage of things to see and do, but the official Savannah visitor web site is a great place to start. You'll be here in late February, which is always a good time to visit as spring approaches and the city prepares for St. Patrick's Day. Weather should be pleasant (though there's no telling with the winter we're having). The Hampton Inn on Bay Street is centrally located and within walking distance of all the major attractions. I highly recommend using the hotel concierge to guide you toward restaurants, tours and museums that interest you.

You recommend "Savannah history and photography" to first-time visitors and don't list one site in the Historic District? You know, the old part of the city, accessible on foot, that most people actually come to Savannah to see? I think Colonial Park Cemetery, the Savannah History Museum/Central of Georgia Railroad complex, and the Owens-Thomas House (all within the Historic District) might come first.

Wormsloe is in Sandfly, 8 miles to the south (outside the city limits). Ft. Pulaski is on Cockspur Island, 17 miles to the east (almost as far as the beach at Tybee). Bonaventure Cemetery is Midtown East, via Victory Drive. All three are good choices, but not first choices.

Just throwing out ideas - we hit them all on our first visit to Savannah. Also did Colonial park, and really enjoyed it. Haven't done the other two you mention, so I can't comment on them.

The nice thing about forums is that people can throw out ideas and then the OP can use the internet to do a little research and develop a plan that suits them.

OP here,
Absolutely. I have a full two days (friday and Saturday) and my Sunday flight does not leave until 7 pm. I have to decide if I'm going to rent a car.

I'm going solo so I have to also think about safety.

I want to definitely do the historic homes walking tour.

If you are interested in WWII history, The Mighty Eighth Museum is near the airport, so you could spend a few hour there on Sunday before your flight.
