There seems to be a sequestration of any news about why "Big John" Wetherbee, the chief meteorologist at WTOC is abruptly out. Was he fired? Anybody got the scoop?

He is no longer on the website. By "abruptly out" do you mean he was literally there one day and gone the next, or that you just noticed one day he was no longer there?

Yeah, unceremoniously, and unexpectedly, as far as I can tell. I don't watch WTOC every day, but I do watch often enough that it seemed like he was quietly fired, like he didn't know it was coming. He definitely didn't retire or go through the normal "here's my two weeks' notice" thing.

He also has a side job working for the Georgia weather network or something of the sort. Doing radio weather updates all over the state.

It's standard for people who work in that biz to have strict non-compete and non-disclosure clauses in their contracts ... which means even if they go to work somewhere else on good terms, neither they nor the station can acknowledge it. About 6 months from now we'll probably find out.

well big john did internet radio throughout the US and UK for years, I talked to him at Hampton County Watermelon Fest Parade, I told him most of my financial radio stations has him dong the weather, he told me he had two daughters at UGa at the time, he is a good person for sure
