Pretty big deal imo. While it will only create 75 jobs, the fact that Jaguar Classic cars chose Savannah for their first U.S. operations site speaks to Savannah's growing international reputation.

Quote:
Jaguar Land Rover Classic’s new facility will be located near Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport and the Port of Savannah, the largest single container terminal in North America. Construction of the new facility will begin in autumn 2019.

“Creating a dedicated facility in the U.S. – one of the largest markets for classic car enthusiasts – is an important and exciting step for Jaguar Land Rover Classic. We’re delighted to bring the future-proofing classic expertise and support we’ve nurtured in the UK direct to US clients,” said Jaguar Land Rover Classic Director Tim Hannig. “The Savannah site is the perfect location for us: a charming setting combining a passionate community and excellent transport links that will make it easier for US clients to benefit from the authentic services and expertise Jaguar Land Rover Classic provides.”

I had to search around to find out exactly what it is this place will do ...
(Jaguar Land Rover Classic’
sounds like a race or a golf tournament ... or a college bowl kick off game

The facility will provide access to Jaguar and Land Rover Classic cars and services for vehicles that have been out of production for a decade or more, according to Deal's announcemen

I thought the same thing when I first saw the article. This is nice feather in the corporate hat for Savannah. This will be the second major British company with a presence in Savannah, the first being JCB. Perhaps this will lead to direct flights from Savannah to London one day.

Too bad, but I think the Jaguar people said they hope that it still might happen someday.

Yeah it sounds like this was a financial problem on their end and nothing specific to Savannah ... of course we may never know if that’s true or not.

Agree. Little to do with Savannah -- unless we read of plans to open in Charleston or Jacksonville instead. Jaguar LR s headquartered in the UK, owned by Indians. It's also a luxury brand. According to The Guardian and other British sites, Brexit has scotched a lot of plans. They're holding off on business abroad until Theresa May's final exit agreement with the European Union. Or until there's a new UK referendum, though I think that's unlikely.
