We are relocating to the Savannah area next year (2020) and am interested in finding a rent to own property. Is there such a thing there? Where would I find them? Also, what area of town should we stay away from? We are coming from Huntsville AL area. Though most of us were raised in Western NY. I have a really large family. So finding a place to rent is hard. There is 11 of us. Buying is out of the question at the moment.
If you want to PM me with the answer, that is fine too... We are in the process of researching.

I googled “Rent to own Savannah” and quite a few links popped up (after you scroll past the ads for Rent a Center and Aaron’s etc). Unfortunately most of the houses are pretty small (3 BRs) and with your large family that will be a problem. The Savannah area has a large transient military community and pretty sizeable stock of single family rental housing ... mostly in suburbs like Georgetown, Richmond Hill, Pooler and Port Wentworth. I’d concentrate on these specific areas.

The areas you should stay away from are the areas you will find rent to own.

OP, pay attention to the advice you've been given so far. It's accurate. Why are you...and this menagerie of a family...moving here? If it's for a job, and the best you can do is a rent to own home, then maybe you need to reconsider this job, especially in this booming economy.

Moving here on a lark, as it seems may be your case, with this many in tow, is a recipe for disaster.

When we decided to relocate to Savannah, we took several "recon trips" to experience different types of weather temps, check out areas we might want to live, etc. We found it very beneficial in making our final decision to come here. We also found an excellent realtor. I'd strongly encourage you to get the help of a realtor.
