HI folks,
I'm interested in understanding what the neighborhood(s) north of Victory and east of Truman Pkwy are like (before you get to the islands: Gordonston, Avon Park, Green Acres and then Just north of Victory Fernwood & Parkwood.

Are these good neighborhoods to consider for a family to live in?

Do you mean Avondale? I am not familar with Avon Park. Gordenston was at one time THE most upscale neighborhood in the City. It is now surrounded by areas that are getting in bad shape.

The other areas are OK. You could do worse. you could do better.

Gordonston is still pretty solid. I know a number of people with kids who live there. The other areas are hit and miss (you're lucky when they miss). I wouldn't recommend them unless you are really prepared for a combination of random inner city crime, affordable living, and some really sweet people. The random crime gets old. Even Gordonston is subject to random crime: shootings, break ins, so on and so forth. That doesn't prevent a lot of fine people from living there, it's just a weird thing that Savannah people acclimate to.

The city is in the process of improving the old housing project near Gordonston. That may help things a little.
