While you are checking out the business school at Savannah State, you might also check out South University.

South University

I think my cousin took classes in the program while attending both GA Southern and Armstrong. He ended up with a good job, but I think the degree was just a means to an end, i.e getting his degree in business at a local school.

Especially if I'm caucasian? Please elaborate. I'm not sure I understand your point.

I think the point is that he thinks that you may not be aware that Savannah State is one of the oldest Black Universities in the country. The Black students are understandly proud to be part of it's history. This is no problem for the many, many whites that attend. For those that are bigots, well..they could be in for a suprise if they had not researched the school.

There are also many, many Blacks that attend South University. Savannah State doesn't have the Medical programs that South Univ. does. For anyone looking at a medical office or hospital setting, it could be a better choice. It's also a much newer facility without the spread out campus type classroom setting. Travel from one class to another would be easier.

Armstrong University would also be worth looking at, but I don't think that it has the business programs.

You certainly couldn't go wrong with Savannah State. I was merely suggesting South Univ. as a choice.

Many, many? Care to clarify?

Racism runs rampant on SSU's campus against white folks. There's even a small uprising to get rid of their white football coach, depsite recent successes he's brought to their program.

I'm aware that it's a HBCU but I don't understand why gaflsc thinks that should be taken into consideration (yes, I'm white) when deciding on attending.

gaflsc, maybe you could provide me with some concrete proof of the rampant racism on SSU's campus. Maybe articles, news reports, anything to subsatntiate your claims.

Personal experiences. But do your own research. I'd hope you'd do that anyway before moving somewhere or looking into a college. You may not wish to take any of this into account. That's your sole decision.

I'm just saying, you're not from here. I am, and have been around the block more in Savannah that most. Believe me, racism exists everywhere, sometimes in ways one may not expect or be accustomed to.

From my limited experience on campus taking a short course, doing research in their library, and as a guest lecturer in a class, I've always been treated the same as anywhere I go.

That being said, being one of the white minority would be perhaps enlightening...there's always room to learn about others.

My previous comment was more in relation to the value of the business degree which appears to be average or adequate.
