For anyone visiting Savannah, or even for locals brushing up on local history, a trolley tour around historic Savannah is a must. I love those mini squares or plazas all around.

Before setting out for a tour I was told that the Oglethorpe was as good as any, and for $10 a real bargain. But finding a ticket booth was the most frustrating thing and you can't pay on the bus. Why are their ticket stands almost invisible?

Old Savannah tours on the other hand pick you up at the hotels and there are ticket stands all over downtown. You pay alot more - $25 for the same tour - but you can find tickets.

While hosting friends and family in the area I have taken about 6-8 tours...and sampled each company. Old Savannah and Old Towne are more expensive and give glamourized or romanticized versions of the stories they tell. Oglethorpe sticks to pure history and architecture. It depends on your budget and preferences of what you want to hear.
