So... I usually don't do touristy stuff but I have a friend coming in to visit for a few days. I am planning to take her on a daytime Trolley tour downtown. Does anyone have a favorite tour to recommend? I don't want to make an entire day of the tour. Maybe just a couple of hours.

I am also planning to take her to the Tybee Wine festival on Saturday as long as it doesn't rain. Has anyone been to one of these in the past? Was it worth the price of the ticket?

Yeah, I am leaning towards the $10 Oglethorpe tour.

Not going to the wine festival, Al?

Yeah, mrsnespy seems to have been in the same boat as you are.
Your friend wouldn't happen to be warmerdaze, would she?

Nope.

Just wondering, is all.
She's coming into town today.
Or yesterday.
Or tomorrow.

I say go Old Savannah Tours. It's a local company, who has been voted the best tour company in Savannah for the past 6 years in a row. They offer a TRUE on/off service, unlimited trolley use from 9am to 4:30pm for $25. Great guides, great service. Their "after tour" shuttle service is extremely reliable as well. Top notch company.

I believe they were voted the best tour company 6 years in a row for a reason..

You would obviously recommend them since you work there. But yes, they do give good tours...just not my personal favorite. To each his own.

We ended up doing the tour with the orange & green trolleys. Not too exciting but a good way for her to see a lot in a short time and I learned a couple of new things.

The wine festival was pretty good. I'd go again. I'd recommend they do it a little later in the day though next time. Scorching hot in that field w/virtually no shade. It would also be nice if they had some arts and crafts types of vendors. We made the rounds of the food and wine booths fairly quickly and then after that just stood around in the sun with nothing to do but drink wine...
