Can anyone give me an idea of whether the neighborhood around E Henry & McCormick near Skidaway is safe enough? I'm from NYC originally and am now in S Florida so safe is a relative term for me - just looking to not get shot.....TIA

Move to one of The Islands.
You won't get shot.
The rest I don't know that much about.

OOOPS, Sorry.
I'm sure that there are many that will.
I just hate to see an honest post go unanswered.
We got a bad enough rep as it is.

You'll have to forgive Al, he has this idea that this is a chat room and everything has to be answered quickly.

It's stretching things a bit to call that section "near" Skidaway. It's sort of an iffy section. It could be OK, but maybe not. If you are looking for a home, there are other areas that might suit you better. Are you sure about the street name? McCormick? I can't find it on any of my city maps. There has been some recent low income housing constuction in that area. It could be that they have also put in some new streets.

It might be worth your time to look into it. I'm sorry I couldn't help you more.

Just sayin', is all.

Here's a link to the property. If you zoom in, you can get the street names. It's on the corner of E Henry and McCormick, a block from Skidaway...thank you!

Oh YESSSS! I have passed that house a million times.

Check out the pictures of it. Lot's of yard space, but a pain to paint!

Chatham County

Just put in 1702 Henry Street in the blank spaces. I believe that there are only five places on McCormick.

As I said.....iffy. As far as I, personally, am concerned, it is too close to some not so nice areas. But then, I am partial to where I live which is a looong way from such. I think I would call it safeish.

You see, it's on a heavily traveled one way street heading west. No on-the-street parking. But there is a lane in back. Would it be inviting to the light fingered?

I have no idea how old it is. I know it was around in the 1930s. I would check closely to see what kind of heating and cooling it has. Also, make sure there is a termite inspection. Some of these older homes are great, but some also have structual problems that are hard to fix.

I used to dream about having a home like that. It is still gorious. There are not any others like it in the area. It was probably built when there was nothing else around.
