My husband is considering a job in the Port Wentworth area and we are shopping online for neighborhoods. Having never been to the area, we would like suggestions and/or opinions of the surrounding area. Possible neighborhoods we've come up with are Richmond Hill, Guyton, Rincon and Sprigfield. I am an RN and will be looking for a job also.

We'd like to get the most house for our money (low 200's), at least 0.5 acre lot, decent commute time to Port Wentworth, low crime, and good schools. We have one son who is in the 10th grade this year.

We'd like access to bike/walking areas, lakes for kayaking, short drive to the beach. Which, by the way, where does everyone go for beach access???? Seems like the beaches stop at South Carolina and don't resume until you hit Florida! Are there no good Georgia beaches? Or are they just kept secret to keep out the masses?

Thanks for any input.

You need to do some serious reading both on this site and in general about the state of Georgia, if you think we don't have a beach. LOL

You could probably live anywhere on the west side of Chatham Co. and have a reasonable commute out to Port Wentworth, which is an old industrial town on the outskirts of Savannah. They've recently been building some new neighborhoods in newly annexed areas on the edge of PW.

If you peruse some of the other recent posts on this forum (I'm not joking this time) you'll see a list of good high schools in your area.

Richmond Hill is not a neighborhood, but a town, in another county, on the opposite side of town. You could commute along the interstate, if you wanted to. Guyton, Rincon, Springfield are also towns, in other counties. (google up a map, if you must) Remember, most of these small towns are pretty far out in the country, so if you lived there you'd be commuting into Savannah for just about everything you need.
