Whitemarsh, Wilmington and Talahi are among the better parts of Savannah.

Bring plenty of $$$. Probably much less than CA but real estate costs are increasing in this area. Several posters have said that the elementary and middle schools for this area are good but to plan on enrolling students in private schools by high school.

The Savannah-Chatham school system faces many challenges--being located in South GA is a major challenge.

Just Want A Better Life For The Kids And Us. Do You Think This Is The Place. I Am From South Florida The Schools Seem To Be Better In Ga Judging From My Research. It Is Too Costly Here In Ca. Too Much Traffic, Too Much Pollution. I Am So Confused I Want To Be In A Warm Climate Close To The Beach.

I didn't care for Savannah--close to a beach or not.

There is Brunswick/Glynn County--the Golden Isles--Jekyll, St Simons, St Marys--not the best schools in GA --still in South GA.

The metro Atlanta area has the better school systems. A great deal of growth in the north metro area. Lake Lanier in the NE and Lake Allatoona in the NW part of the state might offer some of the lifestyle found along the coast.

I read a post on the Outer Banks of NC--around Wilmington--maybe that would be an area to research? I believe NC has good schools and the description of the coastal area was intriguing. Check the NC forums.

Maybe only certain areas of NC have the good schools? Lots of interest in Charlotte, Raleigh-Durham, Asheville and maybe Wilmington.

They certainly have some good universities--and from that I infer that education is a priority in NC...

I honestly cannot say 'anything Good' about the Savannah-Chatham school system. As someone else said--'Savannah is a great place to visit--beautiful, a wealth of history and the coastal environment is pleasant...'

The lack of employment opportunities and growth seems to foster 'negativity'.

That'd be my advise as well if you're wanting a coastal community in GA. Camden County schools are the better choice in the area.....that's the town of St. Marys.

You won't be escaping the crowds if you move to Savannah. I'm sure they don't compare to CA crowds, but it's crowded non-the-less.
