Because of the general area, (rivers, marshes, etc.) it's difficult to suggest a particular area that would be best for you unless we had an idea of where you would be training.

I have been looking at townhomes on realtor.com. All I like seem to be in a neighborhood called Oakdale, on the google map app it says Highland Park. The streets look beautiful, close to coffee shop to walk my dog. I'm retired engineer I will be there alone a % of time, my husband will be on west coast part time. Is this a safe area?

City Data has very detailed demographics on "Oakdale-Savannah". I know the area only from a point of view that I sometimes play golf at Bacon. BTW, Bacon is a lot more than golf. Check it out.
