Hello all,

This will be our first trip to Savannah this weekend. Where would be a good place to stay for under $100 a night in a safe area?

What are must see sights if you are only spending the weekend?

We have been top Charleston many, many times but somehow never made it to Savannah. We love the feel of Charleston. How do you think they compare?

Is Savannah less safe than Charleston? Any areas to avoid? Restaurants to recommend?

Thank you all so much for your help!

You will have a great time in Savannah. Unfortunately for $100.00 a night you would be hard pressed to find a deal like that in the historic district of downtown Savannah which is one of the main tourist spots here. Your best bet will be in midtown along Abercorn Extention which runs north/south from downtown all throughout midtown and southside Savannah. The trolley bus tours and walking tours are popular during the day downtown, and there is also a variety of bars, clubs, and restaurants especially on River Street especially if you are into the nightlife.

Maybe easier to get to from the interstate, still within your price range and within the trolley routes, try the hotels in Port Wentworth (I-95 exit 109...often listed as North Savannah in hotel listings).

I'm from Toronto and Savanna has just got to be my wife and I's fave place in the world. A couple of years ago we were in the visitors center right downtown in the historic area. There was a guy giving a sales pitch in there for his inn, The presidents quarters. It was a two night deal and the price was about half their regular one. I think it was something like $260 for the two nights. Well it was just awesome. It also included a dinner in their resturant in their ajoining inn. They put out lots of food to eat every afternoon and wine also. See if they still have such a deal. Every room is totally different and really large.

Maybe try VRBO for Tybee. We have always lucked out on great deals right on the beach and IMO it's close enough to drive back and forth.
