The printing press was the most influential modern invention as it allowed knowledge to spread.

Before that probably fire. The nutrients in cooked food are more readily available. The excess nutrients let people do things other than just look for food all day.

Segways do look cool on video. I have never actually seen one in person, but they look cool.

A cool thing that a few people have, is not the same as inventions that effect everyone's lives.

When we were on our last cruise we couldn't rent a Segway because we are over 60. WTH?

The one that was being rented on a beach was rented by a young man who took off down the beach. Pretty soon he came back, pulling it behind him. He left it by the rental building and some time later we saw the rental guy looking for him. Even later the rental guy came by with a big piece of something in his hand and he was NOT smiling. Hmmmmm...

From your post I'm not sure you understood my reference. The owner of Segway died when he drove his off a cliff...
