He is arrogant. And really I have my doubts about his intelligence. What has he invented that we all use everyday?

As far as I can tell. We do not have any Tesla, Von Braun, Fermi, in the world at the moment. When we do, you will see the differences in the world. That is how you know they are smart. Reminds me of the Plato quote:
"A hero is born among a hundred, a wise man is found among a thousand, but an accomplished one might not be found even among a hundred thousand men."

Smartest guy on the planet? No way. I've known a number of people who are smarter and in a wider range of subjects.

He IS very good at getting himself on TV. The man is everywhere. Great PR agent/publicist.

I like Kaku's work. He really thinks outside the box; something science desperately needs to advance at this point in time.
