Well they were not born in Texas, but they got here as fast as they could.

This is a classic example of how the American understanding of the world does not come from articles about genuine research and data, but from the misperceptions and/or the self-serving lies of the Headline Writers.

This article does NOT say that the first Americans may have been Texans, but only that no artifacts have yet been found that would shed any light on where people lived or where they came from before their arrival in Texas. And, of course, the headline was composed largely for the purpose of selling newspapers in Houston.

The headline of the article could be shown to be true only if it can be proven that the first Americans were dropped out of a UFO in the Edwards Plateau. Or if Homo sapiens evolved separately from lower primates (or armadillos) in Texas.
