At Universities across the nation, which departments tend to be the most heavily funded?


Possibly this might give us an indicator as to which scientific (and engineering) fields society deems most 'important'....

I'm pretty sure Med Schools far and away receive the most funding.

agreed the OP's question is a little off...

Joey's answer about med schools receiving the most funding could be true of some schools but not others. Its not a one size fits all answer.

Well, I understand that there is variation among schools, but isn't there a general trend, or at least some set of fields that tend to receive more funding at the greater number of Universities?

I thought there might be a general list/ranking of these fields?
