Looks like a mockup.
But here, it looks like it is nearly finished.

You mean this one?
It really is the award winning (for creative architecture) "Military Education Center" at the "Orient Green Boat After-School Camp for Youngsters."

I don't think that ship would stand a chance against an American ship, especially since some of them have been testing rail guns.

Rail Guns will possibly be on our next class of Destroyers but I have only heard of electromagnetic rail technology being used to launch planes on the United States next class of aircraft carriers.

I though it was a old un-finished Russian builit one from the cold war soviet-era that they now retro-fitting and have just now finished building it to operarational status..
It is not a threat to North America it is onlya threat in the south Asain sea.. and a threat to countries like Japan ansd South Korea.
If it made a turn and headed out on the pacific Towards North America in any sort of Aggressive mannor it would not be a float for very long before the US Navy sinks it...Heck Even the Russians could see it as a threat and sink it also.. Which is whay you will not see it in the north pacific and arctic oceans which is patroled by both US and Russian naval fleets. that have 40 years of cold war experience on naval warfare/Tactics under their belts...
China bought an unfinished Soviet aircraft carrier Varyag in 2001 from Ukraine, In December 2010 China's State Oceanic Administration announced that this vessel would be finished one year earlier, in 2014. A nuclear powered carrier is planned for launch around 2020.
According to James Nolt, senior fellow at the World Policy Institute in New York, it might take China many years to develop the technology, training, and operational capability necessary for an effective carrier.
As of 10 August 2011, China is now sea-testing its first aircraft carrier. Its only claimed purposes are training and research, ie for the present time it is officially assigned for non-aggressive activities.

This ship is about half the size of a US super carrier, the US is only nation operating super carriers of which there is 11.
The bigger issue for any nation isn't necessarily the size but the vast experience and training the US has operating these ships. If China wants to operate carriers it's going to be 40 years before they come up to speed. With missile and other tech advancing the way it is you have wonder if they are becoming obsolete much like they made battleships obsolete.

I'm sure the US will help them build and train them with carriers to eventually be used.........for what? For acts of aggression? against us??? Should we trust them?

I'm not sure they should be trusted with their own ships if they are attempting to use atomic energy. Otherwise, they might need to use the expertise of older guys who've been around.

The Chinese carrier is a threat to no-one because the Chinese have no carrier based aircraft (they haven't been able to copy either ours or the Russians yet)
Some additional info on it:

BTW, it just returned from it's maiden voyage:
Carrier returns to Dalian after maiden sea trial
