Wonder why *they*, have not started to call them ancient calendars.

In today's world, when one buys seeds, you know when to plant them, because it is written/printed on the bag you buy the seeds in.
When that time comes, is easy today, and all you have to do is, look at a modern day calendar.

The ancients did not have one, a calendar as we know it, but they had *eons* (or ... , a very long time) to do trial and error.
The only way to record that was with rocks.
About the only resource they had since the printing machine was not created until very late in human development.

My Dad loved *fishing* in the local streams.
He knew exactly when to go and when not.
I asked how he knew, and all he said was , *look at the weather* !
Same principle. trial and error and after a while it works.
I never *got it*

NOTE:
I am NOT talking on how they build those giant structures !!
I have no idea how they did that, and I am the last to Speculate !!!
I am still amazed on how !

Today, some people put some other twist on those structures.
I *happened* to be in England on business a few years ago,
and it *happened* to be that same time a whole bunch of *white robed* people,
were dancing and prancing all around the Stonehenge there !!!
For sure, I knew they were NOT farmers wanting to know when to plant their crops !
