The largest virus yet discovered has been isolated from ocean water pulled up off the coast of Chile.

Makes me wonder if these viruses are holdovers from back to the cretaceous or even cambrian eras or instead they are ''alien'' from hitching onto meteorite particles that slam into the earth every second?
