Computer hackers, probably from China, have successfully attacked/disrupted United States satellites through a Norwegian ground station.
Many satellites rely on the internet to transfer data and files opening a window for hackers to corrupt or steal data as well as more nefarious attacks.
This has happened on 4 separate instances in 2007 and 2008....causing 12 minutes of interference and more importantly an episode where command of the satellite could have been shifted to the hackers.......disabling and/or destroying it if they so desired.
Malacious cyber attacks against the Department Of Defense have averaged over 50,000 per year for the past few years.
These actions could cripple our Military response in a crisis since we now rely heavily on satellite communications, positioning, targeting, etcetera.
