According to the research published in the April 10 edition of Biomaterials, Buckminsterfullerine — affectionately nicknamed buckyballs — works by reducing the oxidative stress that causes aging. Granted, the research only applies to rats thus far, and this is only one study into the compound, but the results are still quite promising. It may be a good 500 years too late for Ponce de León, but it seems like humanity may have finally discovered the fountain of youth. Or, at the very least, lab rats have.

In all that i've read and researched about causes of human aging over the last several decades is that oxidative stress has very little to do with human aging and/or longevity however it most likely is causative of '''premature''' aging instead.

I've been reading about Buckyballs for quite some time as they've been proposed for everything from curing ALS, Parkinson's, Alzheimer's, Cancer and now aging however i'm still waiting to see them In Vivo and not In Vitro

Looks good to me. And C60 is eliminated within 10 hours in rats.

Does this mean the retirement age will be raised to 125?

Maybe we could stabilize age for awhile before crashing and burning.

I'd bet a dollar this article gets retracted, or at the least proved wrong, within the year.

I wouldn't mind having a supply of the stuff. I can get the olive oil myself. But I'm sure there's a recipe...

Might wanna just stay with olive oil as the oldest documented person ever to live Jean Calment (1875-1997) stated that her daily taking of olive oil along with red port wine was the elixir of her extreme longevity and good health up till she died at 122 years of age.

This really is an interesting topic, hate being the born pessimist here...

~ What would the retirement age be?

~ Would the legal age be raised to maybe 40 instead of 21?

~ What would the medical insurance cost for a 120 year old?

~ Could you really put up with your SO for 100 years?
