Yeap that would be cool to participate in one of the ancient battles e.g. Ceasar conquering western europe or fighting against the powerful Huns (Battle of Catalaunian Plains) . I just wonder what happens if you get ''killed'' in one of those virtual reality battles .
Or what happens if you don't die but you saw people die and it seemed so real that you had survivors guilt? Seems kind of funny today but who knows it might be a real issue in the near future.
I was a child of the greatest generation, growing up in the greatest social and industrial expansion known. I had a transitor radio and listened to Wolfman Jack braodcast from Del Rio. I remember Sputnik, while in grade school; man on the moon; SpaceX. The country has transitioned from rural to sub/urban.
I don't think I'd have preferred living in any previous period of time but I also think I'd like to live in a pro-active space exploration era. I'm ready to give up this 20th century experience and I'm willing to take a chance on my energies returning as a space cadet.
They were the greatest generation but I consider us to be the luckiest generation. We will get to see more changes in our lifetime then then all the generations did before us combined.
I would have died in my 20's if I lived in the past. I prefer the current or a future where mankind has released itself from the mental plague of religion and traded magic for science.

Lol, nope i probably wouldn't have 'survivors guilt' as i would know that it was virtual reality however i imagine that my adrenalin would be pumping knowing that i was going into mostly hand to hand battle with battle axes, swords and daggers used by opposing warriors trying to kill me .
I'd love to live in the future but in the far off future, say 1,123,345 AD. By then I'm sure they would be able to travel to any galaxy in seconds and to other Earth like planets where others have settled at. Much like a Stargate.
I would prefer to live 1,000 years later, 50 years isn't enough. I would hope by then humans have figured out things.
Interesting. That is the same reason why I would prefer the past, around the fifth century BC. To give humans a head start in figuring things out.
Can you imagine where we would be today if the ancient Greeks had figured out how to fly, e=mc^2, or had developed computers? Today would be like traveling 2,500 years into the future.
But I wouldn't give up my 1960's - 1970's childhood, so I guess it's a tradeoff.
