Whe i was a kid there were loads of science magazine that were based on say what life would be like i the 70's lookig at it in the mdi 50's Rearely did any of the things come true. Often they missed such huge presdictions as perosn use of computers even when their were computers then.Man is pretty blind as to what reality will bring in future.

I hear that argument all the time and its kind of like the boy who cried wolf. Back in the 1950's and 1960's little was known about computers and how they advanced. It was not until the 1960's that More's law was even introduced and the implication of More's was not fully understood till decades later. So when people tried to make predictions on computers and what they would do they really just made guesstimates. That is why a lot of times they were wrong. Today we have more then 100 years of data and can see how computers advance and that allows us to make predictions on how computers will advance at leas till the singularity because at that point we have no data on what computers will do. That is why why no one really says what life will be like beyond the singularity and if they do they are just guesstimates.

Do some research on the number of white American births compared to others. In less time than you might think white America is going to be in the minority.

Where I live I am currently in the minority and I can care less. Plus once the singularity hits race wont matter as life will be different for everyone.

The Singularity seems to be a big deal with you. I have serious doubts about it becoming reality, but dream on...

I understand where you are coming from as I thought the same thing the first time I heard of the singularity. I remember where I was. I was in the theater and a advertisement came on for a future fathom event. Ray Kurzweil came on and was talking about the singularity and his movie Transcended Man. My first thought was what in the hell is he talking about. But it did get my attention and that started my hours and hours of research into it. I read the book, watched the movie and looked at many hours of video on youtube. The biggest thing that got me was nothing he said was new but was principals that have been known about for years. The only thing new about it was how he put it together but it made logical sense to me and that is why I have become a believer in the singularity.

The main principal is the law of accelerating returns. It states that computers advance at a exponential rate and the data backs that up as computers have been doing that since the first modern computer was built for the 1890 census. He is not the first one to notice it as More's law was discovered in the 1960's it just no one really thought about the implications of it till Ray did. However examples are everywhere in today's society. Just look at the I Phone as it is essentially a mini computer with more capability then the computers NASA had in the 1960's. Then look at Siri as its really the first generation of true AI. Do you really think its going to stop here? That would be naive thinking instead its going to advance at a even faster rate so that by the mid 2020's computers that are the size of cells will have more capability then our I Phones do today and AI will be developed enough to where we will be able to talk to computers like we are talking to other humans. When that happens watch out as we will have millions of computers inside our bodies and that will change so many things we can only imagine today and that is just 10 years out. Go 30 years out to 2042 and computers will be so advanced that they will be billions of times more intelligent then all the humans on earth combined. That is the singularity and once that happens no one knows what life will be like and that is only 30 years out so you go 100 years out like the OP asked about and society will be so advanced that there is no way to currently comprehend what it will be like.

Time Magazine had a great article on it and I want to show you one thing they said:

This transformation has a name: the Singularity. The difficult thing to keep sight of when you're talking about the Singularity is that even though it sounds like science fiction, it isn't, no more than a weather forecast is science fiction. It's not a fringe idea; it's a serious hypothesis about the future of life on Earth. There's an intellectual gag reflex that kicks in anytime you try to swallow an idea that involves super-intelligent immortal cyborgs, but suppress it if you can, because while the Singularity appears to be, on the face of it, preposterous, it's an idea that rewards sober, careful evaluation.

This is so true and its happening now not in the future but now its just the beginning so unless you study it like I do you wont notice it till next decade but I see it all around us and its fun, exciting and yes a little scarey but its here.
