Discovered by who? Locals knew all about the mountain gorilla and had hunted it for food for centuries. Robert von Beringe no more actually "discovered" the mountain gorilla than Columbus "discovered" America.
Native Americans thought was Sasquatch as real as any other animal in the woods too.
Still, this is pseudoscience... it does NOT prove Sasquatch is really out there.
Objective historical fact is not opinion, and more importantly is not altered by blinked cultural chauvinism. A claim cannot be made that something was "discovered in 1902" when it was never lost in the first place.
The indigenous Africans knew all about the mountain gorilla and would have gladly shown them to anybody who asked.

Considering that the word "sasquatch" was not even invented until the 1920s (and by a white Canadian school teacher named J.W. Burns) that's a pretty tough assertion to actually back up. But let's not forget that almost every culture on the planet has "wild man" myths.

You're right. I misread the article. The one caught in 97 was a second species.
I hope this is the right forum to post this. This is a subject I have always been interested in and it seems scientist have confirmed that through a hair sample found where a sighting took place 5 years ago, that Bigfoot is indeed a offshoot species. I always thought the Patterson film Bigfoot from 1967 was the real deal.
A team of scientists can verify that their 5-year long DNA study, currently under peer-review, confirms the existence of a novel hominin hybrid species, commonly called “Bigfoot” or “Sasquatch,” living in North America. Researchers’ extensive DNA sequencing suggests that the legendary Sasquatch is a human relative that arose approximately 15,000 years ago as a hybrid cross of modern Homo sapiens with an unknown primate species.
“Our study has sequenced 20 whole mitochondrial genomes and utilized next generation sequencing to obtain 3 whole nuclear genomes from purported Sasquatch samples. The genome sequencing shows that Sasquatch mtDNA is identical to modern Homo sapiens, but Sasquatch nuDNA is a novel, unknown hominin related to Homo sapiens and other primate species. Our data indicate that the North American Sasquatch is a hybrid species, the result of males of an unknown hominin species crossing with female Homo sapiens.
""" from purported Sasquatch samples"....oooops, it's over.
They claim the hair sample was from a sasquatch. Ok, where is this said sasquatch then? Oh, they don't have it, and there is no body. But they know it came from a sasquatch how..? So right off the bat their claim is dubious at best.
""" from purported Sasquatch samples"....oooops, it's over.
well of course it's purported.
the fact that you think it's all over on the basis of that single word demonstrates your intellectual level for all to observe.
