There is no matter as such. All matter originates and exists only by virtue of a force which brings the particle of an atom to vibration and holds this most minute solar system of the atom together. We must assume behind this force the existence of a conscious and intelligent mind. This mind is the matrix of all matter. - Max Planck

If we are in a simulation:
1. Are we here of our own free will (is this some sort of game), or are we nothing more than background noise?
2. Can we hack into the simulator and change the rules? Are there any back doors? Maybe the whole purpose of the simulation is to figure out that we are in a simulation and to find a way out - the ultimate reality show.
3. Consider the possibility that reality is totally different than what we experience. There may be no such thing as matter, energy, gravity....

Is anyone doing real research in this area? If there are holes in the simulation, it might be possible for someone to find them. Maybe this should be the topic of some sort of X-Prize competition.

Yes.

I think so, but it's designed as an experience creating school.

You are correct. This is just a game.

Yes. Google "holographic universe", "Tom Campbell", "simulation hypothesis". Lots of serious work being done on the subject. Einstein figured it out, sort of, but he lacked any knowledge of simulations so he couldn't make the logic leap.

If we are in a simulation (and nobody can prove that we aren't) that means all that goofy religious stuff could possibly be real AND have science still be accurate too.

God might be an IT technician...

BTW, I am the gatekeeper. Welcome!

The guy in that picture up there...looks just like our DM.

You know, there's all this talk on this forum about quantum mechanics and singularities and whatnot, and here we are with probably the most vast and accessible source of accumulated human thought and knowledge right here at our very fingertips. And we use it for naughty videos and silly cat pictures, and...this guy...

Ya know, maybe it's about damn time the machines took over.

"Computer: End Program" does nothing.

I disagree with the initial premise.
