I wonder how much taxpayer money was squandered on these technological marvels?

The Transportation Security Administration is pulling the plug on its nude body scanner program, a decision announced Friday that closes the door to a tumultuous privacy battle with the public scoring a rare victory.

Travelers will continue to go through one of two types of scanners already deployed, but images of naked bodies will no longer be produced. Instead, software will instead show a generic outline of a person.

Wow they were looking at you nude?? That is a bit invasive; like they are treating people as if they are in prison or not even a person but a thing.

Wait a minute!

I thought Americans loved being subjected to warrantless EIT strip searches!

How am I supposed to feel safe on airplanes now?

I can't believe you were clueless to the Gestapo techniques being used by the TSA.....

Well good to know our private parts will no longer be on display for the TSA but those scanners still emit the same radiation and the flying public is the guinea pig. I understand that I am in the minority for worrying about that, but really all I mean is that if I were a frequent flier I'd definitely opt out and request a pat down instead.

I agree with you whole hardly however let me add that I have been refused to "OP OUT' twice and after arguing with the idiots at the check point to the point I was getting too close to my boarding time I gave up and went through the human microwave.

I think this is going to be like the Bluetooth head sets that we were told were no problem but now some signs of cancer might be showing something different. But rest easy because we all know how well the government keeps us informed and would never dream of sharing half truths.

I would suggest to practice and get your body ready for your airport travel first stand in front of the home microwave with the door open (you'll have to bypass the safety) then stick for a second that will prepare your body for the "low level" waves
