Scientists have connected the brains of lab rats, allowing one to communicate directly to another via cables.

The wired brain implants allowed sensory and motor signals to be sent from one rat to another, creating the first ever brain-to-brain interface.

The scientists then tested whether the rat receiving the signal could correctly interpret the information.

ooooo!!! Zombie rats. I LIKE it. What a great tv series idea.

George Frunkensteen was a lab scientist. With his brain implants, at night he became the diminutive "Ratman" (music swells here). "Ratman", able to squeeze through the tiniest holes, able to nibble the toes off sleeping villains, able to fight for truth, justice, and the American way. (Big TADA here) Yes, it is RATMAN, who, along with his trusty sidekick, Mouseboy save the world from evil terrorist cockroaches!

Exclamation Scientists Enhance Intelligence of Mice with Human Brain Cells

Now the mice are smarter!

It's not quite Rise of the Planet of the Apes, but it may not be too far off, either. By grafting human glial cells into the brains of mice, neuroscientists were able to "sharply enhance" their cognitive capacities. These improvements included augmentations to memory, learning, and adaptive conditioning. It's a breakthrough that could yield important insights into the treatment of human brain disorders. To conduct the experiment, the scientists created human chimeric mice — mice that were endowed with human glial cells.

I'm just wondering if our ethics are keeping pace with these technological breakthroughs?
