Maybe one day, however there is a lot of hostility toward nuclear power. Personally I wish the water reactors were never made for consumer power, we'd have saved a ton of grief.
Perhaps I am missing something? Has anybody solved where to store all of our nuclear waste? As far as I know, big or small, both would still produce waste. That is one of the biggest problems with nuclear plants - everybody thinks the other guy should store the waste that they produce. Nobody is happy with this hazmat in their back yard.

This has been a headline subject here in Las Vegas for years.
Yucca Mountain was supposed to be a safe storage site for waste from all around the nation. But, scientists and politicians got into a fighting match with the environmentalists pitching in.
Billions of wasted taxpayer money now wasting away with no solution yet found to the problem.
But, by all means, lets do away with fossil fuels.

Yeah, France.
Currently 4th generation nuclear reactors, liquid metal or salt, will create radioactive material which will be above background level for 800 years, this contrasts a few million for the current first and second generation water plants we are using today.
A 4th generation breeder thorium, plutonium or uranium reactor will burn all long term fissile material during it's life. A thorium reactor need never have anything approaching a critical mass, in fact it can't unless plutonium or uranium are added to burn them up.
