Google maps is my go-to for when I travel, but I haven't traveled for 3 months. I haven't opened it since then, but if it's impossible to navigate, that is a problem.
I have an iPhone. And it's not like Apple maps will help. They're completely wrong.
I can tell you why. The kids all want to do more and better "kewl" things, and to hell with us old geezers who like the way things that have worked reliably in the past.
I was telling my 20-something son about this thread the other day. He said he loves the changes to Google Maps and declared that this thread must be full of Luddites!
Great! Now how do I find my way around? Google maps does not work at all!

Well, I got mine back to classic view. Actually, once I got the satellite view going on the 'new and improved' it was too bad but I didn't like the street view. Also, the 'new and improved' version had reverted to a much older image!
Change is the foundation of our culture... I myself try to be as open to new things as possible including trying new foods I never used to like.. some people are the opposite and have to pick the olive off their pizza and are very stuck in their ways....
With that said I dislike some of the changes to maps... not all change is beneficial, but how do you know until you try?

Change for the sake of change. Forget reliability, functionality, plain old long the mantra of good business, which is "If it ain't broke, then DONT FIX IT!"

I guess you're right, chuckmann.
It is one thing having new features and thankful for that!! But this new look is not user friendly , very slow and buggy on old computers and slow internet speeds and messy looking.
Why can't google give us a small toolbar with a drop down menu to get a stuff than stuff in top left corner and stuff at the bottom right corner and even stuff at the bottom left corner. Very very very messy looking.
Hated it and switched it back. The one thing I liked more about the new Google Maps is the URL that appears when you're in Street View (and maybe even when you're not.. I don't remember) is unique and can be shared easily just by copying and pasting what will appear in your address bar... you'll notice it changes if you move it around. That would come in handy with posting street view images... I had to figure out how to do that once when replying to a thread on this forum that involved linking directly to street view. But now that I know how to do that anyway, it's of no use to me.
