I heard part of an interview with the author (sorry, don't recall where, perhaps NPR?) and he said the only thing that might not pass muster with Neil DeGrasse Tyson is the storm in the beginning of the book that set the events into motion. Everything else withstands scientific scrutiny.
That said, I thoroughly enjoyed. Was rooting for the guy and feeling his triumphs and aching over his set-backs all along the way. Great character development and good supporting character development as well. I've recommended it to many people, even the "I don't read sci-fi" folks.
