If older than a *youth*, that you are just as lazy, since you could still do a lot of *Programming*, whether for fun or making a living !
Many programmers, like myself, are lazy by definition. That's why we write tools to handle the tedious gruntwork for us. :-) If I have to do something more than a few times, you'd better believe I'm gonna automate the damn thing...

I do that for a living now. My "wants" do tend to run parallel with the desires/needs of my employer most of the time, which is good for both of us, but I don't use a fancy environment for a lot of what I do. Unless you call writing bash and Perl scripts fancy.

Long ago, they told us that was having a tool box of code, lines already written out that we could add to this or that program as needed, like ensuring that correct input was done (what I named "Watchdog").

Anyhow, I think my most ambitious school program was an AI that used LISP for the interface, C for the mathematics (simple de-encryption)...........and tied it all together using Digitial Command Language!

That was the phrase around our university as well.

As I recall, there was only one prof who used it. All the other AI profs allowed us to use anything, from C and Pascal to Prolog (remember that?) to OPS5.
