I built a theater space in my house. Now i am wondering what should i use as a "projector"...I was torn btw a really large tv and a regular home theater system...But now a friend of mine told me about LED panels , they are sold by the sqr meters.
If you have a great projection screen you can update your projector as technology improves. Harder to do it if your investment is in panels. 4K projectors are down to $2K, hard to beat. I paid nearly that much for a 720p projector 12 years ago. You won’t find a 100+” tv solution for anywhere near that price.

I don't understand the love for large TVs, and I prefer a projector. As Mark mentioned, not only is the initial outlay much cheaper, but when you go to upgrade it's again cheaper. If you have a light controlled room (it sounds like you do) a projector is the only way to go.
To me, the experience is more authentic and high end projectors have amazing picture quality. I use a six year old mid-level 1080p projector and would take it over any of the comparable sized TVs to this day. Another benefit of a projector is that I use an acoustically transparent screen, so the sound is coming directly from behind the screen. You can't do that with a TV. The immersive feeling with a projector and properly set up screen is much better.
Having said what I said, in my current home I have an 80” LED TV. But the room is not set up for a projector (large square great room with sliders on one side and 15’ ceilings). A true theater experience means surround sound, theater style seating, and an immersive screen, ideally 120” or more.

Looking at the specs, the highest density panel (X Panel 2.9) has 112,896 pixels per square meter. If you bought 3 of them, you get roughly 340,000 pixels in total density. This is less than DVD resolution.
1080p resolution is 2,073,600 pixels.
4K resolution is 8,294,400 pixels.
These LED panels are meant for displays at large sporting events, etc. where you have many square meters of panels and the viewing is done at a distance so you don't see the individual pixels.
I hope you can return it, because it won't give you anything near the experience you're looking for.

I am waiting for it to arrive. the couch will be 30 feet from the panel. It's an experiment
30 feet? You won't notice the resolution issues then. Looks like the panels are nice and bright though.
I have an 80" TV 13 feet away, which is right in the recommended zone for viewing.
That's what I have, an 80" Sharp Aquos 13 feet away. Unfortunately these things seem to last forever because I saw the Sony 85" the other day and almost died, the picture was incredible. I need to find a way to break the Aquos.
