Those are already here, unfortunately its the porn industry thats the first. Look at some of the sex androids coming out of Japan...its hard to tell they are not human! I would think even people that buy them for this purpose, would be using them for other things as well though.
I think certain tech like this is withheld from the public solely because of what they COULD be used for, dont have to be a rocket scientist to figure out all the criminal advantages one could have using a real life android, an invisibility cloak that truly works, etc etc etc.
They are still too ugly, and the AI os not advanced enough. In reality they look scary to me
Maybe cyborg technology is the answer, while robots can be used at the assembly lines, to do the heavy lifting, and so on?
I'm 31. I was a kid during the 486/Pentium era. My dad bought a CD burner for our computer in 1999 or 2000. That paid for itself several times over
We had broadband in 2000, I think, but that was just a 256k or 512k cable modem at first. I remember KazAA, Napster, Limewire, Morpheus, all those.
Things didn't change much for a few years. XP was still fairly crude (especially on DIY systems) for non-techies. It was usable, but not all that accessible. I was always a big gamer/hardware trader.
I think the biggest tech memory I have was using my uncle's first gen iPhone in 2007, when I was 21. That was a revolutionary experience. I bought an iPod Touch maxed out then. It was the biggest leap forward I think I've ever heard.
With mobile, crypto, tablets, IoT, etc., things move forward now faster than I can keep up.
No, because part of what made the future "The Future" was that the technology was going to be used for good and impact the world in amazingly positive ways.
For example, in the 1990s and early 2000s, when the internet first rose, I definitely felt like I was living in "The Future", because the technology was oh, so positive and life enhancing in ways I could've never imagined, like mp3s and video chatting and IPIX bubbles. Now it seems as if so much of today's technology is being used for so much evil that we've regressed back to a time before we had it.

Alot of those past 'future predictions' failed to take into consideration that the general public would ever be allowed to access or even know about the existence of certain new tech.
The Invention Secrecy Act was enacted in 1951. pretty convenient timing if you ask me! LOL
Looking at some of the things that were suppressed using this act...now that is definitely futuristic, but we will never be able to use them unfortunately.
I think we are, unfortunately it's a dystopian future.

I remember telling a friend this a year or two ago, and she just laughed at me. I guess she thought I was being melodramatic. But you're right. We're living in a dystopia and far worse than Orwell or any of the other scifi writers could've imagined.
Case in point:
A guy getting killed over $1.50 video game prank when he answers his front door.
Kids getting paid millions of dollars on YouTube to show dead bodies and ask their millions of kid followers to draw swastikas.
People shooting each other in the chest to be YouTube famous or putting their heads into microwaves full of cement for the same reason.
Young children committing suicide left and right because of social media.
Scientists, doctors and other experts are no longer listened to by the general public in favor of quacks and conspiracy theorists.
Respectfully, some of you are crazy. We are definitely living in the future.
Flying cars would be impractical, and EXPENSIVE. The idea of flying cars is silly in general. It's physics. To make cars fly like in BTTF pt2 there would be incredible engineering challenges let alone the logistics of converting ordinary drivers to pilots. Skyways and the like? Good luck dealing with the FAA lol.
In any case, cars do not fly, but they literally drive themselves these days. My first memories of cars were no airbags, no ABS, just seatbelts. The technology put into high end cars today is mind-boggling.
I'm sure if we spent enough money we could colonize the moon and do more with Mars, but honesty I don't see the point of wasting that much in taxpayer dollars.
Interstellar travel is just a matter of physics and relatively. And the sheer size of the known universe. I doubt if we will have interstellar travel for centuries, if ever.
The future is now. Whip out the small smartphone in your pocket and you quite figuratively have the world at your fingertips.
I was born in 1982. If you showed me the world today when I was a child, say 1989, I would be absolutely blown away.
Next, Doper madness starting out west, California goes full marijuana saturated.
Yup. It amazes me nobody is seeing the parallels with Brave New World. They handed out Soma in Brave New World to keep everyone nice and doped up. Now they're handing out pot. Not surprising CA spearheaded this. It's become a libertarian hellhole with an exploding homeless problem, a shrinking middle class and an artisan demo so desperate for space they were cramming themselves into tinder boxes. Even the rich are being screwed over by the 1%. A bunch of them bought luxury penthouses in a "world class" glass tower that started leaning as soon as they moved in. No wonder the powers that be legalized pot.
