But if you do that, you'll have to get a lot more computer-savvy. Which I am not, so don't ask me how to do that or which open source system is better.

I will caution you that Apple, in its own way, can be just as annoying and intrusive as Microsoft. I've been a Mac fan for years, and don't see myself ever changing, but make no mistake, both Apple and Microsoft want to rule the world, and that means ruling you.

This might give you a way to start thinking about this - https://www.howtogeek.com/190217/10-...u-can-install/
I don't want to have to buy another laptop. I just bought this POS that came with microsoft.

But as I understand (not) this above microsoft email, If I remove Edge from my computer, never use Edge again, and close my live mail account Microsoft will go away.

But if my sign on screen, its Microsoft when I turn my computer on, they use some picturesque photos, Microsoft will think I am agreeing to their services, which I do not. How is this supposed to work. I don't know how to make their ad loaded sign on screen go away. I emailed microsoft but of course no answer.

Here is the email and no I am not a techie I just hate microsoft and don't need their products.>

Your Services Agreement made clearer
You’re receiving this email because we are updating the Microsoft Services Agreement, which applies to one or more Microsoft products or services you use. Skinsguy- Thank you for all your help. Blackberry Merlot you can make yourself. Mix 20% Manischewitz Blackberry wine with the Merlot of your choice. I use a box Merlot because you can dispense the amount you need and the rest does not go bad due to air exposure.

To (whomever)-Thats right I am not tech savey and English is my first language. There were no run on sentances in that paragraph.

Stanley- yes my computer has a CD Rom drive.

gguerrm- It did seem strange that no one has heard of this email. But now other people have gotten it. Is it all fishing?Maybe.

Tek Freek- I simply hate Microsoft. Bill Gates has more money than God. Evidently thats not enough.

I "discontinued" using Microsoft products many years ago. To the OP, the best way to do so is to reformat your internal boot disk, and install some flavor of Linux, (I favor Mint, but most are good).

With Linux, Firefox, GIMP, and Libre Office, there is little need to run the Microsoft OS.

But I have to admit that other than my Linux boxes, I now use Mac computers for a lot of my computing, (still with Firefox and Libre Office).

On the contrary, I got it too and so did lots of others, it is directly from Microsoft, all you need to do is an internet search on a browser of your choice for Microsoft Service agreement update.

It seeks to the use of Xbox, and I don't have one so, not terribly relevant to me.

Sorry about being so abrupt. It's been one of those days. And it's not over.

While being unhappy with the amount of money he has amassed you should also realize what he does with a lot of it.

https://www.theguardian.com/technolo...res-foundation

$4.6 billion dollars to charity this year. Over the life of his giving: $44.9 billion.

To keep things legit that $4.6 billion was a whopping 5% of his net worth.

This is the only way to truly remove MS FROM your current computer. Installing something like that.

However, if you actually read what's changed, most people can continue to use MS products without fear.
Do you Skype?
Do you use Xbox?
Don't share porn through these services. That's really what it boils down to.
MS isn't going to shut your PC down because you use Bing to search for porn.

As for Bill Gates? He's an amazing man. And he has nothing to do with Microsoft these days. Satya Nadella is running things now.
