They may be genetically identical, but would grow up to be an entirely different person.
The original may be a genius, but the clone could grow up to be an idiot.
Here we get into the nature vs nurture debate.
I think that a clone of, for instance, Einstein, would probably be a pretty smart human being. Would the clone be Einstein - i.e., develop a radical new theory that revolutionizes our concepts of the nature of the universe? Highly unlikely. Einstein's insights, like Newton's, developed from a mental flash which was later supported by mathematics and physical experiments. Those flashes arose from many things in their individual lives, and would be impossible to recreate. Einstein and Newton themselves were probably unaware of exactly which past experiences and observations culminated in their ideas.
Exactly, no one knows for a fact it has NOT been done, just because there is a law against it, means absolutely nothing.
Its a safe bet there is probably some illegal R&D going on somewhere in relation to cloning. There is just too much potential for HUGE profits if this could be done successfully.
Yea, scientists break the laws all the time, and can have no morals when faced with their curiosity, pride or future fame. But almost all therse clones are done via corporations for money or maybe robot soldiers for suuposed safety and national security advancements etc. etc..
Money is the name of the game. But then we cant discuss morality HERE so that would be off topic.
They would have the same rights as any other human being. We're not going to treat sentient beings as slaves, at least not in developed countries. We'll have robots for that, at least until they turn on us and destroy our species, which is actually a very real possibility if we are not careful.
If you enjoy movies on this subject, a movie that was surprisingly ahead of it's time "The 6th Day" is one that I enjoy. I could see this as some day being how it works. If the tech is developed the rich will use it first and it will gradually trickle down.
The clones in 6th day were never children though, they grew 'blank adult bodies' and then just installed the cloned persons self into the blank....this is what I think of when the topic is cloning, but we are still many many years away from that type of cloning.
If the scientist can't have any kids for whatever reason, could he clone himself and raise his clone like he would a baby? LOL
What a weird question. A clone would begin as a baby, just like any other human being.
