So I have an iPad 3 (model MC707LL/A) rom 2013.
I only use it to read the Sunday paper & stream TV.
However as if this fall it’s obsolete. I can no longer stream because the apps will not update.

I need a newer version but am on a tight budget.
I wanted to know:

1) Which iPad versions should I look at?
-Nothing fancy, but I want at least 64g of storage & a screen size no smaller than my current
2) I don’t need the newest, top of the line, I just need one that works & wont be obsolete next year.
3) Best places to shop?
-Apple/BestBuy/Amazon/Facebook Marketplace/Craigslist/Other?
4) Can I get a rebate/money from Apple for my old iPad & iPod even if I don’t buy from them?

Thanks.

I've afforded Apple on a budget for years. As you say, the trick is not needing the latest and flashiest. For instance, last time I checked, Apple was selling brand new iPhone 8 for about $300.

Apple has a refurbish program. And they provide the same warranty and customer service for their refurbs as they do for their brand new products.

Second best is a refurbish supplier with a known track record. They will offer warranty and customer service, but usually the warranty is not as good as the ones Apple offers. One such company I have found satisfactory is Other World Computing, but there are others.

And I personally have had good luck buying from private sellers, but the price you pay should reflect the fact that you are taking a chance.

Apple's rebate/turn-the-old-one-in program changes all the time. You'll have to check what is currently on offer.

An iPad starts at $329 with 32GB of memory. Which for reading the paper and steaming would be ample. Or for $429 there is a 128 GB machine. Both have a 10.2 inch screen.

I am running an iPad Air 3 with 128 GB. I ponied up to the almost pro version

I want at least the same screen I have now & memory 64, but was hoping I could do it at $200 or less.

You can always look for refurbished. Or an iPad mini is the other option. But you pay for screen space.

I have an iPad Mini and it's great for reading books but not so much for streaming anything, especially sports. OP, do you have a TV that could serve as a monitor for a Mini?

Check Swappa for a used iPad Air or Air 2.
