Which apps do you recommend for an 87 year old woman who is not tech savvy?
I plan to give a Samsung Galaxy tablet to my mother who has never used an electronic device in her life. She will use the tablet to read books and listen to music. She will not use it for internet browsing or anything else.
Which free Android apps would you recommend as:
1. Epub reader - so that I can share my epubs, she loves to read. I have epubs and not mobi
2. Music player - so that she can listen to mp3 songs which I will store in the tablet
I'm seeking simplicity over features. The apps have to be really simple to use and navigate.
It may be simple for you, but, depending upon how quickly she picks up new things it might not be so simple for her. I learned this with my mother many years ago. At the time I did not realize she had started to have mini strokes. Her long term memory was very good, but. her short term memory had started to decline. Anything new she needed to learn I had to write down step by step so she could refer to it each time for many months. Once it was in her long term memory and she was doing it every day she was fine.
So, be prepared to write out the simplest instructions step by step so that she can refer to them when you are not there to help her.
Audible app - Audible is similar to Kindle, except all of the books are narrated. She could listen to books at her leisure, whenever she want, and enjoy e-books on her device at home, or on-the-go.
Also Audiobooks from Google Play Books App and Goodreads.
Lumosity
Lumosity is one of the best brain-testing apps out there. Daily exercises to help improve her memory and cognition skills. This is great for keeping the mind sharp, and continuing her lifelong learning.
