I would like to hide my WiFi network, but above link seems out of date. When in Fios app, I checked "Manage Home Wi-Fi Setting", no information about turning off wifi access.

Thanks.

There's a difference between hiding your Wifi (turning off SSID broadcast) and turning your Wifi completely off.

Turning it off means no one can access it at all. Stopping the network name (SSID) from being broadcast still allows access, but you have to know the network name and punch it in manually to use it.

I don't use the FIOS router (it's complete garbage), but you should be able to log into it and within the wifi settings there's probably a check box for "broadcast SSID" or something very similar. That's probably what you want to turn off.

To login to your router, you probably just need the IP - it's likely 192.168.1.1 or 10.0.0.1. It'll ask you for the username and password and off you go.

Ok, thanks. "Stopping the network name (SSID) from being broadcast" is what I want to do.

either ssid broadcast off (unless you have protected setup, you need it to join) or better yet, be mean, leave SSID up with a name like 'free nude pics' but make it filter by mac....fancy speak for you have to let every person on individually.

There is a setting for it. Not share personal access to wiFi on your cell phone. And the lan setup? Each equipment has only access to one iP address. They only register your name to that ip address or someone you're sharing it with. They don't give out to anybody else near by.
