A US company claims it is ready to build a microwave ray gun able to beam sounds directly into people's heads.

The device – dubbed MEDUSA (Mob Excess Deterrent Using Silent Audio) – exploits the microwave audio effect, in which short microwave pulses rapidly heat tissue, causing a shockwave inside the skull that can be detected by the ears.

Try a raw whole egg.

Going back in time is not all it's cracked up to be. Or not to be, if you believe in multiverses.

What does crack me up is that the MEDUSA concept can be defeated by a stylish tinfoil hat, and a mob armed with cookie sheets could redirect the energy back at the operators. The whole concept is about as batty as attacking the enemy with comfy chairs.

Actually Harry it's a brilliant concept....for extracting monies out of the defense department to "investigate " this foolishness.

BTW...this is NOT new...it was discovered way back in WWII when some sailors walked in front of a radar antenna. Physics being what it is the same problems exist...if you expose people to a strong enough EMF field to induce audio effects you're also doing retina/lenses damage etc ; and that generally is frowned upon as a "crowd" control method. Of course that little tidbit isn't discovered untill the "research" money has been exhausted...This thing resurfaces every five to ten years or so.... it involes a LOT more marketing skills than science.
