I mean a BIG SUCKER, that'll handle like, 3 - 4 amps.

I used to know lots of places out in the SF Bay area to buy things like that in a retail store. Now I'm in New York, and I'm at a loss. Any suggestions?

If you don't need it right now, there's always Digi-Key Corporation - USA Home Page.
If you need it right now, you might be better off posting in the NY forum.

Yup, Digikey is your best bet, unless somebody suggests a local brick-n-mortar. Fry's Electronics carries a decent selection of semiconductors, but alas, there are no locations in the northeast.
