In any case, that thing makes a ton of noise when the guy was using it.

Uhmmmm ..... yeah ... did not think of that possibility !

Although ...
In all my travels, and staying in hotels or motels, the doors always had that lock thingy that you have to *fold* over ... ????
Would that be not sufficient, or are those sickos, so desperate, that they will actually keep banging against that door ?

I assume that would be good enough unless you are in some hotel where you are the only resident like that movie psycho

That was absolutely meaningless. You can break into every room without much more than a legitmate hotel key and a MagStripe writer. The $50 "admission fee" for unlimited access to every room is far worth it.

Of course, you could always make a steel rod with a loop on both ends and shove that under the door. It isn't hard to make lock picks. Locks are for the perception of safety. It'll stop some mook from walking into your house, but anyone determined (I.E., an actual thief) can get into anywhere without much trouble.

Someone can break into your keypad car locks in less than 20 minutes. That said person can steal a laptop with a Bic pen. Master locks will not keep them from letting your dog out of the back yard, or opening a tool shed.

If you want safety, buy a shotgun and an alarm system, and know how to use both of them properly.
