YouTube - Science fun

An old video I found where particles of sand or something rearranged themselves to the different frequencies produced.

Cool Chladni/eigenmode patterns.

The late Carleen Hutchins, an acquaintance of mine, studied these during her violin resonance research.

Wow. That is so cool. Awesome. While watching it I was wishing my son could see it - he would have loved it.

Very interesting. But when the experiment is repeated, are the exact same patterns reproduced at the same frequencies, or do different patterns form?

And what is the physics behind it? If the patterns aren't random, why do the vibrations caused by those frequencies cause those particular patterns?

A frequency based etch a sketch - Cool! Amazing to watch the divisions multiply as they did I saw closer resemblance to Buckyball designs.
Reminds me of Schumann Frequencies and the natural frequency of the earth. There's also some fascinating books about electromagnetic frequency and humans, read Robert O Becker, Cross Currents and the Body Electric.

I've just learned that galaxy spiral arms are density waves (the theory of). Even galaxies have natural frequencies! Everything have natural frequencies.
