The state only grew about 1% last year? That's good news, but I wish we could make it decrease for a few years.

The California migration reduction is interesting. I don't see as many 'rich' or 'house rich' Californians moving into my neighborhood anymore. They used to buy some of the best houses but I don't see that happening much now.

The collapse of the CA real estate market has wiped out any "wealth" some of these folks had. They can't sell a house for $500K in Yuba City any more and move here. My in-laws bought a house about a year ago for $250K that had sold two years before for $550K.

Anyone who took equity out of their home in CA in the past couple of years is probably not going anywhere for a while.

California's economy is so bad right now (over 10% in big cities) that most homeowners can no longer afford to move without taking a big loss.
