If you really want to go to WalMart stay away from the nasty one in Renton,
just a few miles up 18 from the one in Federal way is a brand new one at the supermall in Auburn, along with a Sam's Club (which they do have in Seattle,
up on Aurora about 130 something. Lynnwood is probably closest to Seattle, though. Just up I5 across from Martha Lake.

They remodeled the Renton store a few months back. It's not quite as nasty as it was. But the parking lot is still a zoo.
Also, even if they their people as much as Target does, it's still not a living wage, and Walmart has been fined for forcing employees to work overtime and not paying them for it. When a Walmart store's employees in Canada decided to form a union, Walmart closed that store. And when you buy stuff from Walmart, how much of that stuff was made in Sri Lanka by people making 50 cents an hour and chained to the machine?
I don't care if they donate to Republicans. Costco donates to Democrats and I hate shopping there too. How many Walmart employees outside of Walmart tell you how great an employer they are? Inside of Walmart, they're probably required to tell people how happy they are working there. The last employee who didn't was beaten and then fired

How brand new is the one in Auburn when it's been there for years and years?

Sam's Club is also in Renton, next to the Renton Shopping village (Uwajimaya) on Grady Way/Talbot Rd.

The Walmart in Auburn is less than a year old. They built a superstore in the Supermall and closed the old store.

Live far away from a Wal Mart for a year or so and when you finally go back to one, you'll wonder how you didn't hate it when it was close by.

They closed that one and down the road built a new superstore.

Yes, there are a lot of braided-armpit-hair type hippies and the like in Seattle, they do HATE Walmart very much.

What everyone is missing is that firecodes and zoning keep stores the size of Walmart from being built. Yes, part of the reason is that not a lot of people want one in their neighborhood, but the average Walmart store is 102,000 square feet.

Most local building codes cap buildings at the 50,000 square foot range for commercial buildings though. Walmart became successful by building large stores in unincorporated areas between cities where they could pretty much write the local building codes.
